Events

For fire safety and security reasons, we ask that you check your coats, jackets, backpacks, instruments, and similar items at the staffed coat check—free of charge—during events held in the university’s concert hall.
The concert hall features fixed bench seating with narrow, restricted aisles due to the building’s design. Items carried or left behind can block escape and rescue routes and pose a significant safety risk, especially in an emergency. In addition, loose items increase the risk of tripping and can intensify smoke development in the event of a fire.
Leaving the aforementioned items at the coat check is therefore not merely a formality, but a necessary measure to comply with fire safety regulations, to ensure that escape and rescue routes remain clear at all times, and, above all, to ensure the safety of everyone present. Thank you very much for your understanding and your support in ensuring the event runs safely.

Responsibilities of an Awareness Team

The Awareness Team will be present at selected events at the HfMT to ensure that people can move about the university with as little discrimination as possible. The team provides accessible support when individuals experience or witness inappropriate behavior, discrimination, harassment, or other forms of abusive conduct.

Its responsibilities include, in particular:

  • Being approachable: Those affected can contact the team confidentially.
  • Listening: The team takes perceptions and experiences seriously without jumping to conclusions.
  • Providing support: The team can work with the affected person to determine what they need at this time and what options for action are available.
  • Referring: If necessary, the team refers individuals to other resources (e.g., the equal opportunity officer, the psychological counseling center).

Pilot Project at the HfMT Cologne

As part of a pilot project, a plan for awareness-raising activities at events at the HfMT is being developed in collaboration with external experts from The Guardian Angels . This includes, among other things, establishing an awareness team, providing training, and subsequently supporting team members during their assignments.
