Prof. Dr. Sevi Bayraktar

Sevi Bayraktar ist Professorin für Tanz, Musik und Performance im globalen Kontext am ZZT. Mit dem Ziel, eine Brücke zwischen Theorie und Praxis zu schlagen, setzt Sevis Forschungsarbeit bereits in ihrer interdisziplinären Ausbildung in Kunst-, Sozial- und Geisteswissenschaften in der Türkei und den USA an. Sie promovierte in Kultur und Performance an der University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), wo sie auch als Teaching Fellow unterrichtete. Ihre Forschung konzentriert sich auf Tanz, Gender und kritische Theorie im zeitgenössischen Nahen Osten, wobei sie choreographische und ethnografische Methoden kombiniert. In ihrem aktuellen Buchprojekt untersucht sie die moderne Geschichte des Volkstanzes, die Heritagisierung und die sozialen Bewegungen in der Türkei und analysiert die Beziehung zwischen Tanz-Ästhetik und politischer Handlungsfähigkeit. Ihre Arbeiten erschienen in Zeitschrift für Ethnologie, Performance Philosophy, Dance, Movement & Spiritualities und Performance in the Public Sphere. Als Tänzerin ist Sevi's Arbeit von einer Vielzahl von Bewegungsformen inspiriert, darunter Tänze aus Kleinasien, Romani-Tänze, Sufi-Rituale und Flamenco.

Motto: „Tanz hat ein großes Potenzial, hegemoniale Strukturen zu unterwandern. Tanz fordert uns auf, immer wieder neue Wege zu finden, um nachhaltige Möglichkeiten für Zusammenarbeit und Unterstützung in Momenten von Verwundbarkeit und Trennung zu entwickeln.“
