Senate

The Senate is the highest political decision-making body of the university. It is made up of the Rector as Chairperson, the Deans and the Director of the Aachen and Wuppertal campuses, representatives of the professors, academic staff, technical and administrative staff and students. At the Cologne University of Music and Dance, the Senate is responsible for the following in accordance with Section 20 of the Art University Act

• the election of the Rectorate and Vice-Rectorate
• the enactment and amendment of (framework) regulations
• the proposal for the appointment of the chancellorship
• recommendations and statements on art, teaching and research
• the university's plan for the advancement of women
