Scholarships for female artists as part of the Dorothea Erxleben Program

  • Application deadline: 02.07.2025

The Dorothea Erxleben Program specifically supports female artists on their way to a professorship. It was developed by artistic universities and the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture and is unique in Germany. Female artists are supported in their artistic and academic qualifications through scholarships and teaching assignments in order to create equal opportunities. The HBK Braunschweig has a placement rate of 25% in professorships. Three female scholarship holders receive funding for up to two years, on condition that their project contributes to the further development of artistic forms of expression and that they are actively involved in teaching and the university. Further information can be found on the homepage.

Funding by the Cusanuswerk

  • Application deadline: 01.08.2025

The Cusanuswerk is the Catholic Church's organization for the promotion of talented young musicians in Germany and awards state, church and private funding
to particularly talented Catholic students at music universities. In an annual, two-stage competition, young
musicians are selected who are professionally excellent and at the same time interested, creative and committed beyond their subject. Further information can be found on the homepage.

With the support of the Förderverein der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln e.V., the university's Jazz / Pop department awards the Minnemann scholarship. The scholarship is aimed at students in Departments 5 and 6 majoring in jazz/pop and supports projects by students in the field of jazz/pop which, in addition to their high artistic quality, go beyond the university framework.

For many HfMT students, a stay at the Palazzo Ricci in Montepulciano is one of the highlights of their entire studies. In order to make this stay possible for students who, for financial reasons, are demonstrably unable to raise the necessary personal contribution in full, the Association of Friends and Sponsors of the Cologne University of Music and Dance has made a sum available to support students at the Cologne location. Under certain conditions, students can receive a grant from these limited funds. Please note: It is not possible to cover the full amount of the student's own contribution.

You can find more information on the application procedure and conditions on Ilias.
