Testimonials / Certificates

The graduation documents (certificate / diploma) will be issued as soon as the student record book with all required evidence has been submitted to the examination office and all other examination results that may still need to be submitted by teachers have been received. Students who are able to collect their certificate will be informed by e-mail. During the lecture-free period, the issuance of final documents may take longer. If necessary, the Examinations Office will inform about the expected duration by posting a notice.

The application for credit must be submitted to the Examinations Office within the first four weeks of commencing studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. Periods of study and academic achievements that you have completed in the same degree program at other conservatories in Germany will be credited ex officio. Periods of study and academic achievements which you have completed in other courses of study will be credited, provided that these are proven to be equivalent studies. In the case of periods of study and academic achievements at universities outside Germany, the equivalence agreements approved by the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder and the Rectors of the Universities of Applied Sciences and Arts are decisive. The same applies to examination achievements.
The Examination Office decides on the recognition of periods of study, academic achievements and examination results acquired prior to commencing studies at the Cologne University of Music and Dance. In cases of doubt, the examination board will be involved.

Achievements acquired in the course of simultaneous studies at a university outside Germany will not be credited. Placement in higher semesters on the basis of previous studies is made in the context of determining artistic aptitude. The application for the recognition of study and examination achievements is available as a download.

The following documents must be attached to the application:

  • certified copies of the certificates and attestations
  • if applicable, certified translations of the certificates and attestations in German language
  • a clearance certificate, in the case of courses of study that have not yet been completed, stating that no performance has been "definitively failed".
