Funding opportunities of the DAAD

There are also funding opportunities through the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). These support you in projects that you want to realize abroad or support you as a foreign student in your final thesis. Katja Haus from the International Office will be happy to answer any questions you may have about funding opportunities.

The aim of the graduation scholarship is to give foreign students who have fallen on hard times through no fault of their own the opportunity to complete their studies in a concentrated manner. The graduation scholarship is aimed at all foreign students who have achieved good academic results and will graduate within the current university year. Here, financial support is granted for a maximum of six months and paid for the last semester of your studies (graduation at the end of the summer semester: April - September).

The selection is based on the following criteria

  • personal circumstances, in particular proof of hardship through no fault of your own
  • completion of studies in the current academic year
  • motivation
  • academic performance.

Please submit the following application documents via Ilias:

  • Letter of motivation
  • CV
  • Letter of recommendation from the main subject teacher
  • Information on income and expenses, both in tabular form and corresponding supporting documents
  • Transcript of Records as well as proof that you are registered for the final exam.

Application deadline is March 15 of each year.

You can get all the information you need directly from the DAAD. The DAAD awards numerous scholarships and provides an extensive scholarship database.
