Master of Music Guitar

Master of Music - Guitar

The guitar department at the Köln, Wuppertal, and Aachen campuses of the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln has been renowned for its artistic and pedagogic guitar program for decades.

As leading artists, the University’s professors and instructors have dramatically shaped and continue to shape guitar development as well as guitar research and instruction for decades. Many national and international winners of the most renowned guitar competitions are graduates of their classes.

Moreover, numerous networks of extracurricular activities at the three campuses and the surrounding regions afford students a broad range of work opportunities. Numerous guitar festivals and competitions are hosted in the region, often initiated and organized by professors and instructors. Students at state-funded and private music institutions have the opportunity to participate in internships, some of which even lead to employment. Many concert series, churches, and independent organizers provide students with venues to perform.

All of this ensures a high-quality education that combines the traditional and current demands of different careers in the arts and instrument instruction with the University’s high educational standards, thus creating a practical focus for the new degree programs under the bachelor/master system.
