All students must re-register for each semester, i.e. apply to continue their studies. This re-registration must take place during the deadlines set by the university. Re-registration is done by paying the semester fees and, if applicable, providing proof of other required documents.

Students are automatically re-registered if the fees have been received in due time on the account of the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln.

Reregistration for the winter semester 2022/23 will be from June 27 up to and including July 11, 2022. (There’s a grace period until and including July 18, 2022 with overdue fines of 30.00 €)

The semester fee consists of the following amounts:

    • Semesterticket (VRS incl. NRW-Ticket),
    • social-contribution for the Cologne Studierendenwerk
You will find the calculation here:
    • AStA contributions for student self-administration,
    • university sports
    • social hardship coverage.

    Please consider the following information:

By winter semester 2022/23 the semester tickets for students at Cologne and Wuppertal campus are only available online for print or download:
The logo of the transport associations (Verkehrsverbünde) will no longer be printed on the student card (blue chip card). Therefore the student card can no longer be used as a ticket.

    9 €-ticket

The German government (Bundestag and Bundesrat) determined to introduce the so-called „9-€-ticket“ for a period of 3 months in 2022 (June, July and August). You, as students, will benefit from the ticket as well:

The 9 €-ticket is already included in your semester ticket.
Students who have a semester ticket don’t have to buy a 9 €-ticket.

The semester ticket is valid nationwide for the complete local and regional public transport (ÖPNV in the 2nd class) from June 1 to August 31, 2022. There’s no need to buy an additional ticket.

Your semester dues for the summer semester 2022 will be reduced proportionately. You will receive this financial relief by two means:

    1. Registered students, who will leave the HfMT by end of the summer semester 2022 or those who will be removed from the register:

Those students who have completely paid the semester ticket for the summer semester 2022 and will definitely be removed from the register, may fill in the request for refund (see attachment) and send it to the Studiensekretariat by e-Mail.

Students at Cologne campus receive                  71.59 €
Students at Aachen campus receive                   70.95 €
Students at Wuppertal campus receive               79.53 €
    2. Students, who are enrolled for the summer semester 2022 and will reregister for the winter semester 2022/23:

Those students who have completely paid the semester ticket for the summer semester 2022 and will reregister for the winter semester 2022/23 will receive a balance to the amount of the reduced fee from the summer semester 2022. This will be balanced automatically. You don’t need to request for it. There will be no reimbursement for overpayments at the time of reregistration for the winter semester 2022/23. The following reduced reregistration fees for the winter semester are:

Students at Cologne campus    237.06 €
Students at Aachen campus     238.48 €
Students at Wuppertal campus 238.03 €

    3. First-time and new enrollees for the winter semester 2022/23

Students who will be enrolled at the Cologne University of Music and Dance for the first time in the winter semester 2022/23 will receive notification of the semester fee to be paid for the winter semester 2022/23 together with their admission to the program.
