Professors at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln work on many different research projects and the results from those projects are made accessible to the academic community as well as interested members of the public. Currently, research focuses on the following fields:

History of Afro-American music, analysis and methodology research of popular music

Music Pedagogy

Determining the content and goals of music education, individual concepts of music instructors, evaluation of learning processes for singing and playing music, inter-cultural music pedagogy, life-long learning, early musical development

Dance Studies

The aesthetics of memory in contemporary dance, methodology handbook for contemporary dance (in the context of Tanzplan Deutschland), increasing collaboration with Deutsches Tanzarchiv Köln

Medical research, therapy success analysis and comparative resilience research, voice physiology and the anatomy of cavity resonance
