The Madrigal Choir is another University chamber choir whose members are primarily students from the church music and teaching degree programs. Of all the classical voice groups on campus, the Madrigal Choir makes the best use of the University’s networking possibilities by working along with such groups as the philharmonic and other cultural sponsors. In the future, the Madrigal Choir will focus on professional and curriculum-based themes for each semester.

In 2006, Prof. Stephan Görg started “Vocal Journey,” the University's pop/jazz choir. Currently, the choir has 45 student members, primarily from the teaching degree program. The choir has gained national acclaim by placing in competitions (1st place at the Landeschorwettbewerb NRW and 1st place at the international Sing & Swing competition) and by performing nationally broadcast concerts for stations WDR and SWF. The choir’s collaboration with internationally renowned ensembles such as Rajaton (Finland) and Real Group (Sweden) is testament to the extraordinary quality of the ensemble. In the coming years, the choir will participate at an increasing number of competitions at the international level.
